By default, people are so damn impatient. They want it all - and they want it yesterday!
I deal with it every day in my business, as the print industry is exceptionally time sensitive. Nine times out of ten people do not plan their requirements adequately in advance, and therefore 99% of our production orders processed are “extremely urgent”.
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend - Melody Beattie
I can remember the morning that my life and my perspective on absolutely EVERYTHING changed forever! I literally opened my eyes that day and everything made sense to me. I no longer just understood the words of the things I had read or seen - I suddenly FELT them!
As I stood in the shower this evening and internally repeated a conversation I had with my partner earlier this morning, I started thinking about all the trouble and effort that women go through on a daily basis…
To fill you in briefly on the conversation… the man in my life is a DJ, so he mostly works nights and sleeps the mornings and sometimes the days away. In addition to this, he is probably one of the most easy going “min ge spin” people I have ever met. (it’s an Afrikaans, South African term for: not phased about anything)
School was NEVER my thing! I simply did not fit in! – In a way, that is sad, because my parents sacrificed a lot in order for me to attend one of the top High Schools in the country and in all honesty, I wasted the opportunity.
But... that was not to be my path!
I am getting just a LITTLE bit tired of how grossly self-absorbed the human race can be
What is it with people these days?! Everything is about "me, myself and I" - nobody seems to have any REAL time for anyone else anymore. Is it because we are all just "that busy"? Surely that cannot be?! - I see so many people wasting PLENTY of time all over the place, every single day! So why not rip yourself away from your coffee, book, phone or whatever it is that you are absorbed in and actually SPEAK to someone that bloody counts!
Something struck me today whilst watching my son… He is somehow always “removed” from social situations. No, don’t misunderstand that statement. He is a very sociable little boy who according to his teachers is very popular amongst his peers. What I am referring to is that he CHOOSES to remove himself from the “crowd”. Although I have always been aware of his “selectiveness” – today, for (whatever reason) it hit me! My son chooses wisely!
I recently wrote a post about Energy Vampires, and it would appear that a lot more people are familiar with it than I initially anticipated. One of the reader’s who commented on the post, asked how to “deal with” the matter – so I promised to write another post on how to guard yourself against “Energy Vampires”.
Have you ever “played” with your own energy field – or experienced the magnetism of yours combined with someone else’s? – It is quite an eye opening experience if you get it right… and one which will absolutely leave you “changed”.
“They say” – if you are happy, you listen to the rhythm and beat and if you are depressed you listen to the lyrics… ok, well who the fuck are “they” anyway?! Clearly “they” weren’t artists of any kind! - Honestly – what planet are “they” from?!
Despite the fact that I am a complete and utter tech junkie and I love so much about our modern world - (yes, there is a lot that I DON’T like as well… but keep up people… this is a happy hippy post), I have often considered the fact that I might have been born in the wrong era.
Whether referring to fashion or decor - there is such a thing as "too much" when it comes to the use of colour. Kids are the masters of the "too much" syndrome, lol - as they will usually develop a passion for a certain colour, and then absolutely everything worn must be that colour. Sadly however, this "monotone obsession"... seems to have stuck around through into adulthood for some people. haha!
This might sound like a bit of an odd term, but it is in fact quite commonly used and yes – you can Google it. Lol! There are other terms for it too, such as "psychic vampires" or "spiritual vampires". I am not sure how “in tune” or interested in “energy” most of you are in general, but it is always something that has absolutely fascinated me – because to my mind, absolutely EVERYTHING revolves around energy and derives from energy.
I was shown a movie once where people lived in a world where it was IMPOSSIBLE to lie and it made me smile from the inside out because it was such an accurate depiction of the human race and everything is it NOT!! As a simple example - In the REAL world, if someone you know didn't like your outfit, they would probably think precisely that, but would still tell you how nice you looked. In this movie however, they told you how crap they thought you looked. hehe!! - It was amusingly BRUTAL!
Are our bodies merely vessels comprised of skin and bone with which we “randomly” roam, or are they symbolic representations of our soul?
I am inclined to lean toward the latter.
As a tech junkie, a graphic designer by trade and a person that keeps relatively current when it comes to all matters technology, I have never had to live with the problem of being "an illiterate" when it comes to computers and tech related topics. So needless to say, what is often self-explanatory to me - is NOT to many people, especially those that fall into the parental generation.
I can remember a time in my life when I won an award for the best speaker in the school. Public speaking (and speaking in general, lol) came very naturally when I was young… and whilst I still find the road to my platform on occasion these days (when it’s emotionally driven), in general I avoid it. I attended a business networking meeting a while back and “walls closing in on me” would be an understatement of how I felt standing up in front of a mere 30 odd people. …Nerve wrecking comes to mind.
Yes life is busy. Yes we all have a lot to do in our 24 hour days. Doing the "mundane" can ABSOLUTELY feel like the straw that broke the camel’s back on certain days... you know... washing the dishes, doing the laundry, packing lunches etc. etc. etc.
BUT - and this is a BIG BUT...
On Friday the 11th of November last year (2016), I received a bunch of "anonymous" roses at my shop - and as any lady would be... I was flattered and curious...who? why? and so the questions roll around in your head...
Little did I know, that this was soon to become a constant in my life...
What is it with the young “women” of today?! Obviously there are the exceptions to the rule but for the most part, many of them are… (Let me think about how to put this politely) …SELF ABSORBED, ARROGANT LITTLE B*TCHES! (Yes that’s about as gracious as it was going to get).
Waking up in a house with young children is truly a new experience every day! It never ceases to amaze me how they manage to jump out of bed with a level of enthusiasm and a spring in their step that is enough to make any adult envious – never mind completely perplexed.
I am all for BIG families – I am a part of one. We are loud, opinionated and loads of fun! There is truly no limit to the amount of fun we can all have together, but whilst my son has many cousins (with a new addition on the way any day now) he - is an only child, and I think I speak for ALL mothers sitting in the “only child” sphere, when I say – we DEFINITELY spoil more to compensate for the lack of siblings…
Nobody wants their child to be an over confident cocky brat, but every parent wants their child to hold a healthy level of confidence. When I was a kid, I had no problems with public speaking and even won 'best speaker of the school' once upon a time, but as I got older and life shared all its trials, tribulations and experiences with me, I lost that confidence somewhere along the line…
I am not generally one to go out of my way to follow what is headlining the news and many people raise their eyebrows or roll their eyes at me when I mention this, but guess what – it is a choice - which I am perfectly happy with.
Bloody hell, stress is STRESSFUL! Those two little words "stress & anxiety" – or emotions rather, can activate an entire personality within you, taking one particular situation or state of mind and literally turning it on its head – so much so, that you can honestly reach a point of wishing that a hole in the ground would swallow you up – or even better, you could cover your eyes like a 5 year old and practice the “if I can’t see you, you can’t see me” routine…
Well – the hole in the ground probably isn’t a very good idea, but the latter is not impossible and is a great idea!
With most of us ladies being career driven these days, it can become overwhelming at times to keep a level head when it comes to managing all the ‘other’ responsibilities which come hand in hand with motherhood and family life – no, seriously – do the clothes in my house have something against me that they need me to repeatedly clean them?! Haha! – EVERYDAY is laundry day in my house! Literally! – But, it makes my OCD heart happy, and that generally means that everyone else around me is happier too… smile and wave, smile and wave…
