It is always great when a day turns into something pleasantly unexpected and unplanned. Jude had a party to attend with his classmates on Saturday doing the one thing they all seem to absolutely LOVE these days - "lasertag" and so Dave and I had just over two hours to kill while Jude was killing his friends... figuratively speaking haha!!
Dave and I were looking for somewhere to go have brunch before shopping for the family braai at our place later in the day... we both enjoy shopping for fresh veg and meat at the local food lovers, which is in a suburb called Tokai... so we decided to head off to the Earth Fair Marketwhich is open every Wednesday and Saturday. I know the tag around these parts is "market Friday" - but most markets around here, are on Saturdays and Sundays so the timing is a little off unless I post about it a week later... lol but nonetheless off we went to the market.
It is an indoor / outdoor market which has all kinds of delicious and locally produced goodies. All the meats sold are pasture reared and the veg organic. There is also no shortage of wine and local craft beers too as well as a creative kiddies corner with all sorts of arts and crafts to entertain the little ones alongside child minders - and there is always great music too... so it generally ends up being an awesome time out for all parties involved.
Needless to say, I grabbed myself a nice chilled glass of rosé and Dave a craft beer. After we had nabbed ourselves a table outside, we each went off to go grab some munchies. I am somewhat simplistic in my tastes and if there is EVER quiche on offer ANYWHERE... then most things pale by comparison, because I am an absolute SUCKER for quiche... especially spinach and feta! So yes, quiche it was for me! Dave opted for something a little more traditional... "guy style" - a burger and chips haha - our personal selections don't very accurately portray the enormous and international variety of foods available hehe but hey... our tummies were happy and our upcoming shopping trip a lot safer (and less costly) because of such lol.
Then it was off to prep for the family braai which turned a really fun and tasty morning into an awesome afternoon and evening spent with family! I hope you all had a super weekend too!
